Overview of Vitiligo

Vitiligo is a state in which white patches develop on the skin. Any area on the body can be affected and most people with vitiligo have white patches in many areas. The extent and rate of color loss from vitiligo are irregular. Normally, the color of hair and skin is determined by melanin. Vitiligo happens when the cells that produce melanin die or stop functioning. It is an autoimmune condition in which the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys certain cells within the body.

Causes

Vitiligo occurs when pigment-producing cells (melanocytes) die or stop producing melanin – the pigment that gives your skin, hair and eye color.
A disorder in which your immune system attacks and destroys the melanocytes in the skin.
Family history (heredity).
A trigger effect such as sunburn, stress or exposure to industrial chemicals.

Symptoms

You’ll often lose pigment instantly on several areas of your skin. After the white patches appear, they may wait for the same for a while, but later on, they might get bigger. You may have cycles of pigment loss and durability.
Vitiligo usually affects body folds (such as armpits), places that have been injured in the past and areas exposed to the sun, around moles, or around body openings. It can also affect the eyelids and hair. It’s rare for the pigment to return once the white spots have developed.

Homeopathy Treatment of Vitiligo

Homeopathic medicine for vitiligo acts on your discolored patches to stop the destruction of melanin caused by your own immune system fighting it. Homeopathic medicines act to prevent further destruction at the level of the immune cells and to reverse the harm as far as possible. Homeopathy is effective to give wonderful and miraculous cures in many cases of Vitiligo. This is due to the fact that the treatment enhances the natural production of pigments.
